Accessibility Statement

Commitment to Accessibility

Arnes (Academic and Research Network of Slovenia) is committed to making the Slovenian Education Network portal (SIO, sio.si) accessible to all users in accordance with the Act on the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications (AZSPMA) and EU Directive 2016/2102.

Compliance Standard

The SIO portal aims for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.1 at Level AA and the harmonised standard EN 301 549.

Conformance Status

The portal is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Known exceptions or content that may not be fully accessible:

  • Some older attached files (PDFs, documents) may not be fully accessible to screen readers.
  • Content automatically translated by artificial intelligence may not be as accessible as the original.
  • Some embedded videos (third-party iframes) may lack full subtitles.

Accessibility Features

  • Accessibility toolbar (Accessibility Widget by OneTap): a button on the edge of the screen provides font-size increase, high contrast, and other accessibility settings.
  • Skip link: a hidden “Skip to main content” link at the top of every page becomes visible when navigating by keyboard (Tab key).
  • Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements are reachable without a mouse.
  • Semantic markup and ARIA: the portal uses semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to support assistive technologies (screen readers, etc.).
